What the site is
A guide to places that accept bitcoin, kept up to date by local volunteers ("leaders") and by the businesses themselves. Information comes from BTC Map, OpenStreetMap, local leaders, business owners and visitors.
No guarantee
We work to keep the guide accurate, but places change. A listing, a "checked" date, a Selected pick or a rating is not a promise that a business accepts bitcoin, is open, or is any good. Check before you go, and never send a payment you are not comfortable with. We are not part of any payment between you and a business.
Selected picks are made by local leaders and cannot be bought. Sponsored placements, if shown, are always labelled as such.
Your account
- Use an email address you control, and keep access to it: it is how you sign in.
- One account per person. Do not use someone else's account or pretend to be someone else.
- You can delete your account at any time from your account page.
What you add
When you add a place, suggest a change, rate a place or write a comment, you agree that:
- it is honest and based on your own knowledge or experience;
- you do not post anything illegal, hateful, harassing, misleading or spam, or personal details about other people;
- you do not rate or review a business you own or work for, or one you compete with;
- you allow us to show, edit, translate and share it as part of the guide, including sharing place details back to OpenStreetMap under the Open Database License. Ratings and comments are shown without your name.
Leaders may edit, hide or remove anything that breaks these rules or seems wrong, and we may close accounts that misuse the site.
Business owners
- Only claim a business you own or are authorised to manage. False claims are removed.
- Keep your listing accurate, and use the dashboard's "still accepting bitcoin" check honestly.
- Owners cannot select their own place, remove fair ratings, or pay to change a rating.
- Signs and badges we provide may be used to point customers to your listing.
Bitcoin City Map is in early access. For now, everything for businesses is free. Features may change as the site grows, and some may later be offered as part of a paid plan. Being listed on the map stays free. We will tell owners before any paid plan starts, and you are only charged if you choose a paid plan yourself.
Leaders
Leaders are volunteers who agree to check places fairly, to use their tools only for their map, and to keep the personal details they see (such as submitters' emails) private and only for running the map. Roles can be changed or removed at any time.
Map data and credits
Place data includes material from BTC Map and © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License. The map itself comes from OpenFreeMap, drawn with OpenMapTiles from OpenStreetMap data. The Bitcoin logo is in the public domain.
Liability
The site is provided as it is, free of charge. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses from relying on its information, from a business's conduct, or from the site being unavailable. Nothing here limits rights you have by law that cannot be limited.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version; continuing to use the site means you accept it.
These terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong SAR.
